Two mechanics matter here. Only bonus wagers count towards the requirement, so real-money bets do not move the counter at all. And your real balance is always spent first: the bonus balance is only drawn on when your real money cannot cover the bet. In practice, the wagering starts ticking once your real funds are used up and you are playing from the bonus balance.

Anything left in the bonus balance after 21 days is removed, so it is worth deciding early whether you want to work through the wagering or simply play with your own money.

The bonus rules that decide what you keep
Bonus funds can never be withdrawn as they are. They become yours once wagering is complete and they convert to real funds, and the conversion has a ceiling: it equals your lifetime deposits, up to a maximum of £250. On an account that has not deposited, the ceiling is £50.

Taking out real funds mid-wagering clears the bonus balance
If you cash out withdrawable funds before the wagering is finished, the bonus balance resets to £0.00 and any remaining bonus funds and outstanding promotions are forfeited. Finish the wagering first, or accept the bonus will go.
One more rule is easy to trip over: bonuses, free spins included, are removed from an account that has not been logged into for seven days. If you are part-way through wagering and plan a break, that is worth knowing before you step away.
